Inbound Closer Review (2023): Are They Just After Your Money?

Heard of Inbound Closer by Payton and Taylor Welch? If you’re looking for an honest review and breakdown of it, you’ve come to the right place. I’m not affiliated with this program but after doing extensive research on it, I’m here to share with you the facts and my own thoughts on it.

The attraction of course is that Inbound Closer is designed to help you make good money. Just a side note: this is different from making money online. You make money as an inbound closer by clocking in and making calls that hopefully generate sales. It’s not a form of passive income. It’s a job. Just saying.

Next among my initial points is that this all comes at a high cost – investing in Inbound Closer, considering that there are hidden upsells amounting to $1000s, plus you’ll need to become an inbound closer which is not a skill you can learn as quickly as you are led to believe from the hyped up sales pitch for this program.

While it is a legitimate business model, I don’t like the tactics they use to sell this package. I also personally hate the idea of being an inbound closer which means that you’ll be doing your best to persuade people buy expensive products (which they may not need at all) on behalf of a company.

You are told that you can get your first client in a week which doesn’t make sense because if you’re not properly trained, a company won’t be at all likely to take you on.

This kind of business model definitely isn’t for everyone and in the case of Inbound Closer, I’m going to have to say it’s definitely not on my recommendation list. But see the rest of this review if you want the full details.

What Is Inbound Closer?

Inbound Closer is an in-depth course developed by two brothers, Payton and Taylor Welch. It’s about telemarketing and specifically how to become what’s called a ‘closer.’ That’s someone who closes a deal over the phone. The course focuses on teaching you to become a closer for a company and to sell high ticket products in exchange for high commissions. This can be a lucrative business if you get good at it.

You should note however, that it is a lot more difficult to pull this off than these guys make it sound.

While you will be paying for the course, you cannot get full access without upgrading which means you will be pressured to buy expensive upsells!

Red flag…

Yes, that’s right. Taylor and Payton are not honest and upfront with you about the real price of this training. Base price is $97 but there are many pricey upsells waiting for you on the back end.

Who Are Taylor and Payton Welch?

Taylor and Payton are brothers and digital marketing consultants. Traffic and Funnels by Taylor Welch is another program that is meant to help people make money by teaching lead generation and funnel optimisation methods.

As for Payton, he’s the main one promoting Inbound Closer.

Taylor says he has a company that helps people make money as inbound callers and marketers that’s worth $21 million!

Both are successful businessmen, not that I’m a fan of everything they do. In fact, I neither like their business model, nor the hype with which they pitch their products, in the case Inbound Closer, but that’s my just take anyway.

How Does Inbound Closer Work?

It consists in a 21 day training program. As said above, you’ll be learning to be a closer for high-ticket products. It’s the art of telemarketing for which apparently, according to Taylor and Payton, you don’t need any previous experience in.

You’ll be getting videos where Payton will go through part of his journey with you and how he was able to convert 3,000 calls into more than $42,000,000.

Personally, I see a lot of issues with taking a newbie and telling him that in a week he can get hired and close a big sale. This is a difficult business to get into. But there is big money which is the incentive.

Once you have your leads, you will be pitching offers to them and the course content will show you how to get hold of these leads.

Personally, I’d much rather stick to something like blogging to make money.

So What Do You Get Inside Inbound Closer?

Well, firstly, there are actually two main courses in the program:

  • Inbound Closing Accelerator – this is what you get along with some other things for $97
  • Inbound Closer Certification Course – this is an upsell for a whopping $997 and follows on from the previous course, providing more advanced training.

Besides these, you get Daily Commission Check Blueprint which consists in two modules that teaches you about how to land that very first client. And remember we’re talking about high-ticket clients which requires an extra level of skill to pull off successfully.

To be honest, there is definitely value in the Inbound Closing Accelerator. It consists in a course that you’re meant to go through over a period of 21 days. However, it is still a kind of diving board – they ultimately want to upsell you to the other big, expensive course. These guys really have created a money spinner for themselves.

The first section includes lessons on:

  • Inbound Closer (IBC) Roadmap
  • Various introductory videos
  • Understanding the Math of an Inbound Closer
  • The Four Things that Really Matter
  • Free Daily Mind Medicine
  • Transformation Ahead – Chey’s Story
  • Taylor’s Story – Going from Zero to a $21,000 Commission Check

You also get to hear answers to a list of FAQs from Payton. This part is called Week Zero which I think is a bit weird but never mind.

You also get some mindset material to help you get ready for the challenges ahead.

The Next 3 Weeks:

This is where the training proper begins. You’ll be learning about and practicing the skills you need to be an effective inbound closer.

Week 1:

You will get training under these headings:

  • Morning Formula
  • Morning Formula Portal
  • Seven Figure Sales Script
  • Homework
  • Reflex Selling System One – 1st Part
  • Reflex Selling System One – 2nd Part
  • Bonus Training from Taylor
  • Sales Mentor Coaching with Eli Wilde
  • Worksheet – Five Rules of Communication
  • End of Week Numbers Review
  • End of Week Review
  • Tracking Your Numbers

Week 2:

They’ll be teaching you to handle common arguments in this section as well as many other things such as more content on the response selling system.

You’ll also be learning about the techniques and skills used in closing leads. At this point you will be getting familiar with what it really takes to be an efficient inbound marketer and what the marketing skill in general really takes.

Here’s the titles of the 2nd week’s lessons:

  • Audio Coaching One – Objections
  • Reflex Selling System Two – Part 1
  • Reflex Selling System Two – Part 2
  • Sales Call Review with Payton Welch
  • Audio Coaching Two – Philosophy and Tactics
  • Sales Mentor Coaching with Eli Wilde
  • Homework – Certainty Worksheet
  • End of Week Numbers Review
  • End of Week Review

They’ll also give you some research to do covering what you’ve learned and get you to read some testimonials.

Week 3:

During this week Taylor will be joined with Eli Wilde. They will each offer an audio mentoring call. This will help you to strengthen the techniques learned in the Reflex Selling System.

You’ll also get a report on your numbers at the end of the week and have the opportunity to discuss how your progress is coming on. You’ll be given advice about how much time you will need to invest each day based on how well you are keeping up with the program.

Finally, they let you benefit from the Daily Payment Check Plan which comes with the Inbound Closer Accelerator. It is an incentive to help you find new customers which is probably the biggest challenge in being an inbound closer.

Here are the lesson titles for the 3rd week:

  • Audio Coaching 3 – Q&A Call
  • Reflex Selling System Three – Part 1
  • Reflex Selling System Three – Part 2
  • Sales Call Review with Taylor Welch
  • Audio Coach Four – Equity
  • Sales Mentor Bonus with Eli Wilde
  • End of Week Numbers Review
  • End of Week Review
  • The End but Not the End

Inbound Closer Mastermind Group

You’ll get access to the mastermind group where you can talk to the other members and get answers to your questions. Members can role-play here as a means of practicing and sharpening their skills.

Post-Call Recordings and Analysis

You’ll get access to a set of sales calls by competent closers with a breakdown for each one, allowing you to learn from their performance on each call.

The Big Upsell: Inbound Closer Certification

This is another lengthy course for $997. You will be gently but firmly pressured into buying this upgrade, especially if you are making steady progress with the Inbound Closing Accelerator course.

Without going to the same level of detail, here’s a quick breakdown of what’s inside this 2nd, more advanced course:

  • Module 1: The Closer’s Mindset. It has 7 lessons plus 4 bonus lessons. As the title suggests, mindset and everything to do with it is the big message in this module.
  • Module 2: Self-Empowerment. It contains 4 lessons and 3 bonus lessons. You learn more about mindset but specifically confidence and how that can lead to getting the best possible ROI in business.
  • Module 3: Introduction to Closing. It features 7 lessons with the main focus being on how to close a sale. To do this, you are taught preparation methods such as having a list of questions ready and answering all inquiries.
  • Module 4: Closing with Confidence. You get 8 lessons here. It features more content on successfully closing calls and doing so with confidence through good preparation. The better you get at doing this, the more people are likely to buy from you.
  • Module 5: Mastering Objections. This has 4 lessons focusing on becoming an authority and overcoming objections that you are sure to come across often in telemarketing.
  • Module 6: Becoming a Professional Inbound Closer. Here you get 5 lessons which are quite general. You also get access to Payton’s network where you get additional support and some mentoring as well as other things.

Who Is Inbound Closer For?

So, who would suit this kind of program and who is it aimed at. It turns out that most people who are members/students of Inbound Closer are in the young 20s age bracket but anyway, Taylor and Payton Welch say that anyone can follow this business model and become successful with it.

I think they should be more realistic, or should I say honest here. Telemarketing, being an inbound closer who specalises in making high ticket sales – that’s definitely NOT for everyone.

They seem to be targeting young people and really anyone interested in a way to make money. They even say you can make money fast with the help of their course.

But the truth is that you can make money fast or easily with this program because if you aren’t already a salesperson with past experience, it’s going to be a really steep learning curve and you’ll face serious competition.

I think it should be for someone who already has experience in this field. But the fact that they target young people who are probably quite ignorant concerns me.

Positive Aspects of Inbound Closer

To be fair to the Welch brothers, they are sharing their telemarketing knowledge in the course and the business model itself is legit.

Anyone investing in the Inbound Closer program will get some value out of it because it was created by guys who are experts in what they teach.

Apparently there are students who have made good money after taking the course although that isn’t easy to verify.

There seems to be a life time refund policy which can’t be as simple as it seems but it must be possible to get a refund one way or another if you’re not happy with your purchase. (But I doubt it’s as easy as it sounds).

Negative Aspects of Inbound Closer

Unfortunately, I have to say I found more to complain about Inbound Closer than to praise. For me, it’s one of those programs where the cons outweigh the pros.

Here are things about Inbound Closer that get the thumbs down:

  • Lack of transparency: The sales page for this video tells you things like how it can help you make money fast which is misleading. It would take a long time realistically to make money as an inbound closer. There’s no way this is going to help you get rich quick. You are told how you can soon be making really good money and within a week you’ll have your first client which is highly unlikely. The $97 course fee is only for the first part of the training. To get fully trained you need to buy the second course which costs almost a grand.
  • Pressure to upgrade: You are not told about the Inbound Closer Certification for ten times the price of Inbound Closer Accelerator until you have already paid for the Inbound Closer Accelerator for $97. You are then pressured to upgrade.
  • Your personal coach is a salesperson: If you do upgrade to the Inbound Closer Certification, you will get a personal coach. But this coach pressures you constantly to buy even more upsells so that you could end up spending anything from $7,000 to $10,000!
  • There’s too much cost involved: The money you need to put into this is one of the biggest problems. After all, they say you only really need a phone and a 6-page PDF file to be successful with this business, which is false.
  • It’s really not easy to be a good Inbound Closer: The business model they are teaching is actually very difficult and most who attempt it won’t succeed. It can easily become highly stressful and frustrating trying to meet targets, constantly on the phone, getting rejected fifty to a hundred times a day as you try to sell expensive stuff that people probably don’t really need anyway.
  • It’s not a way of passive income: It sounds like you are pretty free and can eventually roam around on the beach while making money but the reality is that you need to constantly be on the phone if you want to keep making money. You are giving your time for money at the end of the day.

Can You Make Money with Inbound Closer?

I don’t see why you wouldn’t make money if you were a good fit for this type of business model and applied what you were taught inside the Inbound Closer program.

That said, it could also happen that you invest your money in it, do your best but later realise that you can’t keep up and it isn’t for you after all.

Ultimately, it’s not possible to say for sure whether someone who buys this program will make any money as a result or not.

There are no guarantees, nor can there be.

Is Inbound Closer a Scam?

I would call it misleading to quite a serious degree but since you still get some value for your money, I wouldn’t go so far as to call it an outright scam.

I don’t like how they market this program as a quick fix to your financial worries when in reality it’s probably more likely that you end up with less money and more stress and anxiety about your financial situation.

If you search forums and various places online, you will see people on both extremes, some saying it’s the best thing ever while others will condemn it as a scam.

I think the balanced view to take is that it’s a money maker for the creators. That’s the priority for them. The second priority is giving some help to people but even then, they are busy trying to squeeze you for as much cash as possible via expensive upsells. I think the pricing is unreasonable and it’s shady the way you don’t really know what you’re in for from the outset.

What Type of Person Are You and What Business Model Suits You?

What you really need to ask yourself first is not whether a program like Inbound Closer can make you money but what kind of person are you and what type of business model would suit you long term.

If you are an introvert for example, this work as an inbound caller might become a living nightmare after some time. It just doesn’t suit everyone. I’ve been in a call centre myself and it wasn’t fun – it really wasn’t my cup of tea and I never returned to it.

What worked in the end for me as a business model was affiliate marketing and I’ll be talking more about that and the specific program I use in the last section of this review.

If your goal is simply to find some kind of way to make money other than having a regular job, well, affiliate marketing is easier and a far more stress free.

Pricing: The Truth

$97 already feels a bit on the pricey for the first part of Inbound Closer, the Accelerator package.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg: some say you could end up spending ten grand if you keep buying the upsells that are recommended to you.

One thing is for sure. The initial $97 that you pay ISN’T enough to become a competent Inbound Closer.

To really benefit from what the Welch brothers and Eli have to teach you in this program, you need to at least upgrade to the Inbound Closer Certification for $997.

After that, you so called ‘coach’ will pressure you to buy more upsells. No wonder there are mixed reviews and plenty of complaints about this program.

I also suspect that Payton gets his money mostly from selling this course rather than from actually being a Inbound Closer.

What About Refunds?

There’s this crazy claim that you get a full lifetime refund policy which if you think about it, doesn’t even make any sense.

My suspicion is that it’s another bold claim to help maintain credibility in the program but that if you actually try to get a refund, there’s either some kind of process you need to go through or they’ll do all they can to stop you from refunding. However, it does seem as though there is a way to get your money back if you are experiencing too many problems.

A Quick Breakdown of Why I Don’t Recommend Inbound Closer

Really, this program just isn’t something I’d be comfortable recommending to people.

Here’s a quick breakdown of why I don’t recommend Inbound Closer:

I don’t like the way it’s marketed or the lack of transparency about pricing, or the way they lead people to think that they are offering a quick way to wealth.

They make it sound far too easy to be an inbound closer and make big money when in fact, it’s a highly challenging business to get into, especially if you are new to it.

Is There a Better Alternative to Making Money Online?

Perhaps being a salesperson on the phone all the time just doesn’t sit well with you. In that case, affiliate marketing is probably a better option for you.

If you are serious about making money online you need two things:

Probably the best place to go to learn those marketing skills and gradually drive traffic efficiently to your business and make sales is through the training, support and resources at Wealthy Affiliate.
